Coalition of Local Public Health
The Coalition for Local Public Health consists of public health organizations dedicated to advocating for the resources needed to promote healthy communities in Massachusetts through strong Boards of Health and Health Departments. Our organizations represent over 3,000 citizens and professionals interested in supporting the Commonwealth's local health infrastructure.
Member organizations:
In 2003, the Coalition published
A Case for Improving the Massachusetts Local Public Health Infrastructure, which presented deficiencies in local public health infrastructure. The report also provided ways to strengthen these deficiencies.
In 2006, the Coalition published
Strengthening Local Public Health in Massachusetts, which highlighted the workforce deficiencies in local public health in Massachusetts.
In response to the state's fiscal situation and town budget debates taking place in every municipality in Massachusetts, the Coalition in 2009 developed a
Communication Toolkit for Local Public Health Officials.
