Dear colleagues,
I hope this week you saw our email of Upcoming FY26 Training Opportunities from MHOA and our partner public health associations, and the arrival of Early Bird Registration for MHOA 2026: Sharing Insight. Celebrating Impact. We hope you find information about these opportunities helpful as you wind down fiscal year 2026 and hopefully make use of all of your professional development funds. Please keep in mind that Early Bird Registration for our conference is open only to members, and review our explantion of MHOA Membership Dues as we transition to a fiscal year model. If you're having difficultly registering, it's probably because you aren't currently an MHOA member. Please reach out if you have questions about your MHOA Membership. If you want to register a group for the conference, or renew membership for a group, please contact Lisa Pacella at lpacella@mhoa.com
The Public Health Museum is hosting Outbreak 2.0 next month for 10th to 12th graders, and Al DeMaria is seeking local public health professionals to participate in a June 26 roundable in Tewksbury with the students. You'll share about your experience, career path, and answer questions from the students. Email Amy McInerney if you can join us! amcinerney@mhoa.com
I had the pleasure this week of attending a networking event for the students and host health department staff participating in our Pathway to Local Public Health program. Community College students and mentors from all three cohorts were invited, and it was delightful to hear success stories and ways we can improve this pilot program. The third cohort of students is underway. They are expected to complete the program in September and will be looking for inspector jobs! Let us know if you anticipate an open position and are interested in a candidate who has already completed nine months of online and practical health department inspection training. We'll be recruiting students in the fall for cohort four, which will begin in January 2027.
It's a busy time of year for many on the personal and professional front, and I hope everyone has an opportunity pause and enjoy! And Happy National Nurses Week to our hardworking public health nurses!
Regards,
Teresa Wood Kett, executive director
