It was a pleasure seeing many of you this week first at the Local Health Internship Program kickoff in Tewksbury, and then at MHOA's Quarterly Meeting in Plymouth. It's a busy time of year to be away from the office, but the time was worthwhile!
It's refreshing to engage with students about local public health careers as they embark on a summer of practical learning. And our program with the Cannabis Control Commission's Chief of Staff, Andrew Carter, was very informative. We're appreciative of time, both the presentation and the question and answer session.
After the program, we recognized the 2026 Amy Naparstek Memorial Scholarship recipients. They are: Heather Holbrook - Orleans HHS Asst. Health Agent - University of Massachusetts Lowell, Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology; Daniel Hassett - BRPC Health Agent, Public Health Trainer - Boston University online Master of Public Health with a focus on health equity; Ann Kissel - Springfield HHS Deputy Public Health Commissioner - Fitchburg State University MBA in Healthcare Management; and Sophia Bouzid/Westford Health Dept. Inspector Trainee/Pathway Program - Merrimack College with a major of Public Health and Data Science. Congratulations to the recipients and best of luck as they continue their studies.
